DO's and DON'TS
  1. DO be careful with your WIC checks. If they are lost or stolen, they cannot be replaced. You MUST report lost/stolen checks to your Local WIC office.
  2. DO follow WIC Program rules or you may lose your WIC benefits.
  3. DO be courteous to WIC and store employees.
  4. You DON'T get any change from your WIC checks. DON'T pay any of your own money for WIC foods.

Your RESPONSIBILITIES in the WIC Program

  1. Come in on your scheduled date and time. If you are late, you may lose checks.
  2. lf you do not pick up your WIC checks for two months in a row, you will be dropped from the Program.
  3. You may choose a friend or relative to be your alternate. You are responsible for all actions by your alternate. The alternate must have your WIC ID when picking up your checks or shopping for you.
  4. Call your WIC office if you have trouble using your WIC checks or if you have other questions.
  5. If you misuse/abuse the WIC program, you may be dropped from the program or even charged with a crime. Misuse includes giving false information and buying the wrong foods. Abuse includes but is not limited to physical and/or verbal actions against other WIC participants, WIC staff, property or store employees.

Your RIGHTS in the WIC Program

  1. All information you give the WIC staff will be kept confidential.
  2. lf you disagree with a decision the WIC staff has made (such as why you no longer qualify for WIC), you may ask for a fair hearing. If you want a fair hearing, you must notify your WIC office within 60 days of the day you were informed of the decision. The request may be made in writing, in person or over the telephone. This hearing will give you a chance to explain why you think the WIC staff has made a wrong decision.
  3. lf you feel that a store, another WIC participant, or staff person is doing something wrong, please contact your local WIC office.
